Designing Women's loveable assistant, has died, aged 67.

2014-06-29_1500US actor Meshach Taylor, best known as Designing Women‘s loveable assistant Anthony Bouvier, has died, aged 67.

Taylor died at his family’s home where he was receiving hospice care. His family posted a note on his Facebook page, saying, “It is with love and gratitude that we sorrowfully announce that our darling, amazingly brilliant and dynamic Meshach, the incredible father, husband, son and friend, has begun his grand transition.”

Designing Women ran for seven seasons from September 1986 until 1993 in the US, starring Dixie Carter, Delta Burke, Annie Potts, Jean Smart and Taylor, whose characters work at the design firm in Atlanta. Taylor received an Emmy nomination for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy in 1989.

Taylor later appeared on another CBS comedy, Dave’s World, when Designing Women was cancelled.

Other credits included Buffalo Bill, Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, Criminal Minds, Lou Grant, M*A*S*H, Cagney & Lacey, The Golden Girls, Hill Street Blues, The Drew Carey Show, The Unit, Women of the House and his own lifestyle series The Urban Gardener.

Film credits included Damien: Omen II, The Howling, Tranced, Mannequin and its 1991 sequel.
