A 60 Minutes exclusive interview with the mistress of Gerard Baden-Clay took the show to a rare #1 position last night at 1.41m viewers. It trounced Sunday Night‘s take on the same case, with a “letter beyond the grave” at 873,000.
Nine network won the night with 31.2% then Seven 26.4%, TEN 20.8%, ABC 16.0% and SBS 5.6%.
Nine News (1.35m) was next best for Nine then The Voice: Kids (1.23m), House Husbands (1.17m) and The Mentalist (640,000). With the extended 60 Minutes episode, a late House Husbands episode is expected to drop below 1.00m after adjustments.
Seven News (1.32m) topped Seven followed by The X Factor (1.27m), Sunday Night (873,000) and Castle (455,000 / 258,000).
MasterChef sent home Ben to the tune of 1.08m for TEN followed by Modern Family (656,000 / 519,000), Extant (556,000), TEN Eyewitness News (536,000) FIA Formula One (379,000 in 3 cities) and Bondi Rescue (371,000).
Curiously the top rating title on ABC was The Checkout: Snack Size (989,000) a filler segment to take Grand Designs (892,000) up to the 8:30 hour. ABC News was second best on 910,000, Silent Witness was 670,000, Compass was 455,000 and The Tunnel was 393,000.
On SBS ONE it was Alexander’s Lost World (270,000), SBS World News (262,000), Inside the Mind of Leonardo (229,000) and Tour de France (133,000).
ABC2’s Peppa Pig topped multichannels on 230,000.

So last week APTCH was over 1 millîon and now Castle is below 500,000. Perhaps they should have had 13 episodes like last year to carry the high ratings through for a few more weeks. Looks like Sundays will be boring for 7 for months to come. I don’t know of any drama replacing APTCH in the short term??
@Tony Bee
I noticed the music too thought it was odd but I guess if you hadn’t watched TWD, it wouldn’t seem out of place.
@tonybee – I didn’t watch Sunday Night but if they used that music, then I think yes, that is inappropriate. It’s a great piece of music for a fictional show but to tie it to such a sad real life murder of a mother of three is very on the nose.
@FKlein maybe Ten can make a sixth/seventh episode of Family Feud and play them at 6pm Saturday and Sunday……
Shouldn’t it be Castle not Compass for 7?
Definitely see 9’s lineup all being adjusted down (well not so much for The Voice Kids) – HH started I think 10 minutes after being advertised, because I had to switch over to it to watch the end of 60 Minutes on my iQ.
Argh! No! Masterchef spoiler!! Meh… I would have still read it even if there was a disclaimer.
Does anyone else think that using the theme music from The Walking Dead during the Sunday Night story on Baden-Clay was a little inappropriate?
I’m going to do a wolfieboy!
Last night I watched Ten news at 5, then cartoons on eleven till masterchef started.
I really think Ten need something else on at 6pm Sundays beside Bondi Rescue. I loved when they had an 1/2 hour ep of The Project on Sundays….. I wish they would bring that back.
Yes, ABC News had an extended bulletin to 7.42pm last night (according to EPG in Melbourne) and then went straight into Grand Designs.
And with all the reality shows on I ended up watching The Simpsons on Eleven.
The Mentalist jumped 200k there. Overrun?
I don’t think The Checkout was on last night, the news ran right through to Grand Designs. I am not absolutely certain as my DVR cut out at 7-30 but when it started again at 7-37 the weather was on. That might explain the numbers.
