ABC drops UK ‘terrorist’ drama following MH17 shot down

The ABC has withdrawn tonight's UK drama in which the British PM's plane crashes in mysterious circumstances.

2014-06-28_1324The ABC has withdrawn its premiere of the UK drama Secret State from schedule tonight following the tragedy of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17.

The 2012 drama, featuring Gabriel Byrne, includes a plot in which the British Prime Minister’s plane crashes in mysterious circumstances. The miniseries is inspired by Chris Mullin’s novel A Very British Coup.

Originally due to air at 9.30pm tonight it will now be shown next Friday. It has previously screened on Pay TV.

ABC1 will have Live rolling coverage of news until 3pm Today in all states.

7.30 State Editions are dropped tonight.

  1. I really wish they wouldn’t treat us like children, despite the tragic circumstances I think that the audience is capable and grown up enough to distinguish current news events from a fictional tv series.

  2. I understand, dreadful thing to happen, but there’s no way I’ll ever watch another Agatha Christie story – sorry ABC I’ll be going elsewhere tonight.

  3. Surprised Nat Geo doesn’t drop all it’s Air Crash Investigation episodes. Suppose that would be about half it’s schedule, too much to replace :/
