2014-07-11_1310Sydney’s very own 5 Seconds of Summer will perform on the VMA stage for the very first time at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards live from the Forum in Inglewood, California.

It follows the band’s recent debut at the Billboard Music Awards.

“Can’t wait to play the VMAs this year,” said 5 Seconds of Summer. “It’s a huge honour and we always love coming over to the States. We can’t wait to play on such a big stage!”

Joining 5 Seconds of Summer, MTV today announced via social media that Grammy Award winner, multi-platinum selling recording artist Usher will be making his triumphant return to MTV and the VMA stage. A VMA mainstay, Usher has delivered some of the show’s most high octane and memorable performances including 2010’s stunning combo of “OMG” and “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love” and 2004’s mashup of “Confession” and “Yeah” (featuring Ludacris and Lil John).

Usher and 5 Seconds of Summer join previously announced artist Ariana Grande, who will also be performing on the VMA stage for the first time. Nominations and additional performers will be announced at a later date.

Monday 25th August at 10am AEST on MTV.

  1. I really hope that kid likes Joy Division and isn’t wearing the shirt under stylists’ direction, as reminiscent of when Donnie from the New Kids On the Block wore a Bauhaus shirt. I suppose if it’s the latter, then at least kids get exposed to the name Joy Division which will in years to come serve them much better than anything 5 Seconds Of Summer are delivering.
