Can dogs catch yawns from humans? Is it possible to sneeze with your eyes open? Are you actually as tall as your arm span? Can meringue provide insulation from fire? Does puppy wee glow in the dark? And, most importantly, do duck quacks echo?
Duck Quacks Don’t Echo is a riotous new comedy series that answers all of these important life questions and more. Rip-roaring stand-up comic and actor Lee Mack is at the helm assisted by some fact-fuelled celebrity panellists including Melanie C, John Hannah (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Sanjeev Bhaskar (The Kumars at No.42) Denise Van Outen (The Big Breakfast), Carol Vorderman (Countdown) Richard Ayoade (The I.T Crowd), Stephen Graham (Snatch), Jimmy Carr, Freddie Flintoff and Terry Wogan.
Duck Quacks Don’t Echo presents over-the-top hypothesis and then goes about proving them. Think Mythbusters, but far more wacky . . . and with celebrities!
In every show three celebrity contestants bring with them an incredible fact each. The point of the show is simple and aims to find out who has the best and correct fact. They all believe that their fact is absolutely true and they will all argue passionately for why it should win. The winner of the show is ultimately the person who has the best true fact.
Lee will go to ridiculous lengths to prove the facts on the celebrities’ behalf. Sometimes the proof will be experiments with Hollywood-style production values; other times the proof will be featured as a massive stunt performed live in the studio. Either way, by the end the answer is revealed in the most rigorous and definitive way possible whether that fact is as brilliant and true as they thought.
At the end of the proof Lee leads the contestants on a discussion about what they have just seen and then, with all the information they now have, they give the contestant a score out of 10 (think Come Dine With Me) so the highest potential score is 30 and lowest is 0.
Saturdays at 8.30pm from July 26th on SBS ONE.
