Anja Nissen wins The Voice 2014

18 year old blonde diva Anja Nissen takes out the 2014 title for The Voice.

2014-07-21_224818 year old Anja Nissen has won The Voice for 2014.

The Team Will finalist from the Blue Mountains pipped runner-up Jackson Thomas from Team Ricky.

ZK (Team Will) and Frank Lakoudis (Team Joel) were the first to be eliminated, followed by Johnny Rollins (Team Kylie).

For Nissen it was second time lucky, who previously made it to the semi finals of Australia’s Got Talent at the age of 12.

“Thank you Australia! Thank you, thank you, thank you…. oh my God this is surreal!” she said.

Her coach will.i.am capped off her night by announcing, “I would like to sign Anja to my label!” (but she already has a contract with Universal, plus $100,000 prize money and a new car.

The winner’s single My Girls, will be released on Friday, July 25 and the winner’s album will be released on Friday, August 1.

The grand final saw coaches performing duets (and one quintet) with their finalists including on Can’t Get You Out of my Head, Where is the Love?, Every Breath You Take and Radioactive.

All 16 finalists also joined in the opening number, a group performance of Aussie classic The Real Thing. Also performing were Sheppard and a baffling but dazzling duet staged by will.i.am and Cody Wise (hats off to the show’s director for that one).

Ricky Martin also offered Jackson Thomas a spot on his Australian tour.

Nine’s series has underpinned Nine’s post Easter ratings, and spawned The Voice: Kids.

Nine has already announced auditions for 2015.

  1. But doesn’t the winner contract only go for a year or just an album or something like that? She can go to Will after that is over…. and I think she will go far….. further then the last two anyway… where is Karise and who won last year? lol.

  2. Found the Finale this year to be pretty uninspiring – seemed to lack the excitement and buildup of previous years.

Didn’t find most of the contestants this year up to the standard of previous years.
Good on Anja though – a deserving winner.
She was very strong compared to Johnny and Jackson who came across as pretty ordinary last night.

  3. I don’t understand how Jackson got as far as he did? He just warbles through every song.

ZK always seem like they were above it all so didnt connect, expected Johnny to win.

  4. Considering the producers manufactured a wildcard to get her through to the finals this is a strange result..
At least Jackson the runner up can have a long career without the pressure of being the winner.

  5. I forgot where I read this but one article somewhere on the web said that winning any of these singing shows now is like an internship, you get some experience but you don’t really break into the business. Compare it to 10 or so years ago where winning one of these shows was a big deal.
