International sales for Love Child

Nine's period drama is off to Canada, Croatia and Brazil.

2014-07-09_2311Nine’s period drama Love Child is off to new territories, with recent sales to Canada, Croatia and Brazil.

The Playmaker-produced series, starring Jessica Marais and Mandy McElhinney, will air on CBC in Canada, HRT in Croatia and Globosat in Brazil.

Michael Healy, Nine Network’s director of television, said: “Love Child has been a labor of love for everyone here at Nine and at Playmaker. It’s gratifying the series is resonating with audiences in such large numbers all over the country. I can’t recall a time when home-grown drama has been as popular as it is now and I’m immensely proud that Nine is at the forefront of this resurgence.”

David Taylor of Playmaker added: “Everyone at Playmaker is exceptionally proud of Love Child. The series celebrates the exuberance of the ’60s as it clashes with universal old world values to great dramatic effect, and we’re thrilled how much audiences have engaged with its bold stories, strong female characters and the whole Love Child world.”

A second season of eight episodes has recently been filming in Sydney, with new cast members Lincoln Younes and Matt le Nevez.
