International Summer of Cricket on Nine from November

Nine's coverage of the 2014-15 International Cricket season will begin November 5.

cricket_ballNine’s coverage of the 2014-15 International Cricket season will begin Wednesday November 5 in Adelaide.

Four international cricket teams battle it out in the Commonwealth Bank Test Series, the Carlton Mid ODIs and the KFC T20 International Series.

Nine Network Head of Sport, Steve Crawley, said: “Last summer Nine’s coverage of the international season had nearly double the audience of any other sports broadcast in the country. An average of over two million viewers watched every Test, every day.

“With the world’s top four teams competing this coming summer, Australian audiences will be treated to the best players competing in the highest form of the game. To be followed by a home World Cup, cricket doesn’t get any better than this.”

Leading into the 2015 Cricket World Cup and a mid-year Ashes tour of England, this will be the biggest period of cricket Australia has ever seen on free-to-air television.

Following on from last summer’s hugely successful Ashes series, which broke numerous ratings records, the Channel Nine broadcast team is geared up for another epic season of cricket.

  1. In addition to what David said, just because a program is broadcast on GEM (or 7mate or One) doesn’t mean that it is actually in HD.

  2. Yes during News viewers can keep watching Live, just as WA does due to the time difference. Remember that WA also gets NRL on GEM while NSW does not. There are inconsistencies all over the place. Think we can agree Nine should honour its previous statements for HD sports coverage but I don’t see it happening anytime soon.

  3. David Knox – When I watched the Channel 9’s Summer of Cricket, I heard that the eastern states had to switch to HD if they want to watch the continuing coverage of the Cricket. But for WA, we don’t have to use the remote to change from Channel 9 to GEM.

  4. Hopefully NIne change their stance on HD content on their HD channel. Although i am looking forward to the New season which will be kicked of with a tournament style Domestic Limited overs comp.

  5. Seems a bit early to be announcing this, but nonetheless sounds good.
Four international teams, could that mean there’ll be a tri-series this summer?
