Renewed: Major Crimes

US police series starring Mary McDonnell has been renewed for a fourth season.

2013-05-10_1317US police series Major Crimes, which screens in Australia on GEM, has been renewed for a fourth season.

The series by TNT has been renewed for another 15 episodes.

Major Crimes began as a spin-off from The Closer, set in the L.A. Police Department’s Major Crimes division, starring Mary McDonnell.

TNT, which also renewed sci-fi series Falling Skies for a fifth and final season has also given a second season to The Last Ship.

Negotiations on a renewal of Rizzoli & Isles are said to be underway.

  1. It’s a pity GEM are so far behind in their episodes as they still haven’t finished Series 2. I’ve given up and are sourcing my Major Crimes eps “elsewhere.”

    It is probably unfair to describe MC as a spin-off from The Closer. It is better described as a continuation given all of the major characters except 2 (Brenda and David) carried across. Even Brenda’s husband Fritz continued though he is now an irregular character.

    Rumours persist that Kyra Sedgwick will be back for cameo roles in MC though it hasn’t happened as yet and the finale of Series 2 was the logical spot for this given it wrapped up the story that was the catalyst for her departure.
