Style Network has designs on Fashion Bloggers

Style Network announces its first-ever local series ....starring 5 bloggers.

2014-07-21_1036The Style Network has commissioned its first locally produced series, Fashion Bloggers.

To premiere later this year the series follows “the fast-paced lives of Australia’s top independent bloggers of fashion, beauty and lifestyle. Surrounded by a boundless playground of vogue styles and chic trends, we follow these always on-the-go trendsetters as they style, shoot and post customised editorials through their countless social media outlets.”

Five female bloggers will feature in the series produced by Core3 Entertainment:

Amanda Shadforth, Oracle Fox
Kate Waterhouse, KateWaterhouse.com (pictured, right)
Margaret Zhang, Shine By Three
Sara Donaldson, Harper & Harley
Zanita Whittington, Zanita

The series will also delve behind the scenes and in to the girls’ personal lives, “bringing to light the challenges of being in demand 24 hours a day” (not sure they are blogging 24 hours  -none of the blogs have any more than 1 post a day).

Chris Taylor, VP of NBCUniversal International Television Australia NZ said “This is a first for NBCUniversal Australia and is a great example of the continued evolution of our networks business in the region. Fashion Bloggers is a fantastic opportunity to showcase these talented young women to Australian audiences and to flag our commitment to local content.”

Co-Executive Producer Philippa Whitfield Pomeranz said: “This series shows exactly why Fashion Bloggers are the new tastemakers of fashion and lifestyle. They don’t just report on the trends, they help shape them.”

  1. @ David Knox – So a channel like Style or LifeStyle doesn’t have to follow the rule as their content is primarily reality, and as such have no local content obligation? If so, than the rules definitely need to change!

  2. That 10% spend is for Drama Channels (although Comedy also falls under this). Hence we can see BBC First is doing Banished. I will try to ask about Universal scripted channels when next I am talking to them.

  3. How is it that STV networks have to spend 10% of their programming budget on local productions yet Style has been operating in Australia for nearly 5 years yet this is their first original production? I remember being told by TV Tonight the 10% doesn’t necessarily need to go to a production for their own network but I don’t recall any local productions airing on Universal’s sister channels Universal/Hallmark, E! or 13th Street in the same time period. Something definitely needs to change to the current system as it’s obvious not enough local content is being produced by Australian STV networks.
