15 Comments:

  1. My problem with MC this year (as in other years) is that the judges pick a few favourite females & champion them throughout the series, often at the expense of male contestants.

  2. We have tried Mexican and hate it same as Thai food. Everything else gets a Guernsey like Italian, Asian, German and European in general, French and Aussie tucker.

I was trying to say that not every contestant on M/Chef would have great skills in Mexican cuisine. That is all.

If M/Chef ever became like MKR then we would stop watching it. This year has been excellent apart from this week with grumpy Gary and then the judges throwing the contestants as they commence cooking – not fair imho.

M/Chef has lifted other programs again to appear in the young demographics 🙂

Last year was a M/Chef disaster – so totally agree.

  3. italianguy1987

I don’t agree with WB that throw in some knife fights and MC would get 2 million viewers.

They did that last year and they got punished for it in the ratings. no one wanted MC to become a MKR clone.

Also, it wasn’t the Mexican food that got people angry it was the way the judges spoke to the contestants that did.

  4. I believe ‘WB’ was confusing Mexican food with Eskimo cuisine-seriously, while you don’t find the fast food chains here that are seen in the USA, there are many restaurants and Mexican is a large section in supermarkets for home cooking.

  5. Well what can you do with Mexican food? Most people here would not even eat it. Why not choose a more mainstream and popular food. It was done to get rid of certain people. That’s why we did not like it.

Throw in some fistfights and knife throwing and M/Chef would get 2 million viewers. Sad – yes very sad that things could not stay nice to the end.
    🙁

    • What the? Love Mexican food! SBS did a whole series on it, don’t see the problem in national cuisines being incorporated on a series with hundreds of episodes under its belt. And it isn’t the first time anyway.

  6. italianguy1987

i do agree that the judges have turned nasty especially last night towards renae and collin. i didn’t like it when renae was taking her dish away from the judges table and Matt leaned in and said ”you better hope that brent and amy did a worse dish because you’ll be in the next round”.

the way he said it was mean and nasty.

i however, don’t think its a true reflection of the judges. i think Matt and the other judges are just frustrated that top 10 and they are putting up dishes like this. he expects more and better from them.

  7. Sad that M/Chef judges had to turn rude and nasty with Colin and Renae to bring in more viewers. What a sad world we live in. We watch M/Chef for the quality cooking by amateurs.

Watched M/Chef, recorded Britain’s Got Talent
    and watched it after M/Chef.
Recorded Tennis and watched some later and the rest today. 🙂

  8. Wow a ‘technical glitch’ at the very beginning of 7 News Melbourne really had an effect on numbers. 141,000 for the 1st half hour….ouch!
