2014-08-07_1219I mentioned this one a while ago, and the 50th MAX Sessions event with Coldplay is airing this Saturday night.

If you’re a Coldplay fan this one-off special is definitely worth a look. The band performs plenty of their songs. I’m not especially a Coldplay fan but the hour breezed and leaves you wanting more.

Some day maybe MAX Sessions will stage a few of their gigs outside of Sydney for the rest of us pleez…?

The one hour television special perfectly captures the intimate atmosphere of ‘Midnight’, ‘Oceans’ and ‘Always in my head’ plus the energy of ‘Sky Full of Stars’ – which caused 700 audience members to fall in ‘True Love’ with the ‘Magic’ that is Coldplay’s latest album, “Ghost Stories”. Their greatest hits were not forgotten when the band played “Mylo Xyloto” album favourites ‘Paradise’ and ‘Charlie Brown’, plus highlight performances of ‘Viva la Vida’, ‘Clocks’ and ‘Fix You’ all showcasing the pitch perfect talent of lead singer, Chris Martin.

The captivating performance was the second time Coldplay graced the MAX Sessions stage, having launched the series eleven years ago in 2003. Never before seen footage of Coldplay from their first performance in 2003 is included in the commemorative 50th MAX Sessions 2014 broadcast.

Rebecca Batties, Foxtel General Manager for Music and Head of Digital, said “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome back Coldplay to our MAX Sessions series to celebrate the milestone 50th episode. The award-winning MAX Sessions is Australia’s original and longest-running concert series made for television filmed in an intimate setting delivering world-class live performances from iconic Australian and global acts.

“Forty-nine timeless shows have so far been recorded and MAX Sessions has continued to raise the bar in Australian music television. Those lucky enough to be in the room for the 50th anniversary special Coldplay performance at The Star Event Centre know the MAX audience are in for an extraordinary and mesmerising music experience.”

From its inception over a decade ago, the MAX Sessions has been host to countless artists of the highest calibre from the international music scene featuring Slash, Blondie, k.d. lang, Moby, James Blunt, Michael Buble, Ben Harper, Neil Finn and Seal. Prominent Australian artists have also taken to the stage including INXS, Paul Kelly, Jimmy Barnes, Marcia Hines, Delta Goodrem, Keith Urban, John Butler and Darren Hayes.
