Veronica Milsom will host ABC2’s new series Back Seat Drivers in which comedians and entertainers get behind the wheel of a taxicab “to take the pulse of the nation.”
The 11 x 30 min series sees cabbie comedians including Andrew O’Keefe, Mel Buttle, Ronny Chieng, Tommy Little, Jordan Raskopoulos and Tegan Higginbotham asagent provocateurs in search of the truth in “a provocative and humorous journey to the heart of the real Australia.”
“It’s hard to believe it’s taken us this long to break the long-standing cab cone of silence. As a nation of voyeurs, a window into the confines of a taxi will be an excellent way to hear the unbridled, uninhibited, uncensored opinions of everyday Australians. Unmetered too, so it’s a bargain,” said Milsom.
Jon Casimir, Head of ABC Entertainment, said: “We’ve all had revealing conversations with cabbies. There’s something about the confined space and the fleeting nature of the interaction that drops our defences. With host Veronica Milsom and a mix of established and rising comedians behind the wheel, this series will give the public a platform to voice their opinions and share their stories.”
Executive Producer Matthew Duffy added “Back Seat Drivers is a soapbox on wheels. We’re thrilled to be working with ABC TV and Veronica Milsom to help uncover the humour and truth in everyday conversations from the back seat.”
ABC TV Executive Producer is Richard Huddleston. Duff Productions Executive Producers are Matthew Duffy and Phil Dickenson.
It will premiere following Please Like Me Tuesday 12 August at 9.55pm ABC2.

She’s also one of Shaun Micallef’s regular co-stars too.
I think this is the first series she has done as herself. Remember that she was on Hungry Beast as “Victoria Dynamite”.
