  1. David Essex on Facebook has complained that The Proclaimers were not in the opening or closing ceremony. I thought that was a bit odd as well. I remember thinking the same when The Seekers and The Carnival Is Over was missing from the Sydney 2000 Olympics closing ceremony until someone explained to me that the unfunny Clarke and Dawe did a poisonous series on the ABC in the leadup called The Games and that featured The Seekers and The Carnival Is Over, thus ruining it for everybody.

  2. I just wish they had more Aussie performers for the closing, it just felt like a mini Kylie concert, surely they could have come up with 5-6 different artists to perform one song each?

  3. Oh wow -wasn’t the Gold Coast segment dreadful?

It was just a tourism ad for the Gold Coast emphasising the theme parks and the soon to be polluted Great Barrier Reef.

And Jessica and Kylie merely performed their latest singles.

Wonder how much taxpayer money was wasted on this rubbish?
