  1. “Dead Poets Society” the movie I consider to be Williams’ best film by a mile, is owned by Channel Seven. The last time it was screened was midday. When will the main free to air stations realise that movies made in the 80s and 70s still rate in prime time and not just because the lead dies. Take a risk guys. Give it a go.These movies arent as immediately available on DVD. “Dead Poets” at the moment would rate its head off in prime time.

  2. Ch9 definitely have the better choices here. Birdcage is my personal favourite of his performances, and just a fabulous movie in general.
Bicentennial Man is average enough, but Old Dogs is a pretty poor choice by 7. They could’ve done better than that. I think they have Aladdin and Patch Adams, surely both better choices.
BTW well done to 10 for getting onto it quick with Mrs. Doubtfire last night.

  3. what about dead poets society? A film that i know universities show to students these days and even schools to help students deal with parents expectations and pressure.

  4. We dug out the Good Morning Vietnam DVD and watched it last night. We will probably watch The Fisher King DVD later in the week. I showed the kids last night’s Mrs Doubtfire screening and now we have new Robin Williams fans. We will try to catch some of these shows next week.

I just can’t believe he did a beautiful tribute to Jonathan Winters at last year’s Emmys, and now, almost a year later, he is likely to be the recipient of a similar tribute.

  5. @Helsyd – Seven has Pirates of the Caribbean 4 on its main channel.

Count me as another who would prefer GMV or The Fisher King altho’ I didn’t mind Bicentennial Man (more the story itself than the exposition).

Meanwhile, ABC2 has Robbie Williams. Close, but no cigar.

  6. guess it depends on who has licences @HardcorePrawn, if the FTA stations had them I’m sure they would play the great shows you mention – I loved Bicentennial man – wonder why channel 7 is only screening on 7TWO it’s not like they really have anything else on those nights

  7. I hope one of them shows Dead Poets Society but I can’t remember it being on TV before. Don’t understand why some movies are shown repeatedly and others are never shown.

  8. Bicentennial Man?!?!
    Old Dogs?!?!

I really hope that other networks screens better tributes than those two. What about Good Morning Vietnam or The Fisher King?
