Penny Win appointed Foxtel’s Head of Drama

Well-regarded Commissioning Editor of Drama at Foxtel is promoted to Head of Drama.

penny winWell-regarded Commissioning Editor of Drama at Foxtel, Penny Win, has been promoted to the newly-created position of Head of Drama.

Since joining Foxtel in 2003 Win’s roles have included Group Channel Manager of FOX Classics and the W channel and Group Channel Manager of SoHo and showcase. She was previously a programmer at TV3 & TV4 in New Zealand.

Her commissions have included Spirited, Devil’s Playground, Deadline Gallipoli, and The Kettering Incident, while she has overseen the development of Wentworth, now sold to more than 80 international territories and adapted in Germany and Holland.

Foxtel Executive Director of Television Brian Walsh said “Penny Win’s promotion to the key position of Head of Drama is a resounding endorsement of her skill and commitment to providing our subscribers with unique and distinctive Australian stories.

“Foxtel’s upcoming drama slate has never been stronger, and this new role for Penny sees her responsible for expanding the portfolio of home grown dramas to complement our international drama supply, particularly our exclusive partnerships with HBO and BBC.”

Ms Win said, “I am honoured to take on this new role and will continue to collaborate with the passionate and inspiring local production community to identify and develop great Australian stories for Foxtel subscribers.”

  1. Great news! Congratulations to Penny Win – this is indeed an honour and well-deserved. Foxtel is commissioning drama that is brave, bold and interesting from a diverse range of producers and they are to be applauded and supported for that. Perhaps not all of it will be always be outstanding – but they are trying to commission work that will complement their HBO/Showtime product – thus lifting the bar for Australian producers – and the audience.
