2014-08-28_0201Power Rangers are returning to Auckland for their upcoming series, Power Rangers Dino Charge, the 10th time the long-running franchise has used NZ as a backdrop.

Kiwi actor James Davies will join the group of ordinary teens who morph into superheroes and save the world from evil.

“The new season is particularly important as it is the first time that the production will formally engage [local] directing and writing interns to work alongside the experienced team,” said Dave Gibson, chief executive of funding body, the New Zealand Film Commission.

“Having up-and-coming New Zealand talent actively participating in the creative process is something we value highly and forms part of a long-term strategy to develop New Zealand expertise, with an eye to future development of New Zealand IP.”

The Power Rangers brand, which first began in 1993, has included many Aussie and NZ faces including Firass Dirani, Melanie Vallejo, Richard Brancatisano, Adelaide Kane, Jason Smith, Glenn McMillan and Anna Hutchison.
