Promise Me telemovie to wrap Redfern Now

The final chapter of Redfern Now will be an ABC telemovie with returning and new cast members.

8rdfwABC has confirmed the final chapter of Redfern Now will be a telemovie, Promise Me.

Written by Steven McGregor (Pokies, Babe in Arms, Pretty Boy Blue, Stand Up), it will explore the impact of a violent crime on two women and the fight for justice that ensues.

Deborah Mailman, Wayne Blair, Rarriwuy Hick, Lisa Flanagan, Kelton Pell and Kirk Page will all reprise their roles joned by Anthony Hayes, Daniella Farinacci and Genevieve Lemon.

“The ABC is thrilled to have Redfern Now back in production. The story will resonate with the fans of the show and is ripe for our favourite characters to further develop in the telemovie format,” said Sally Riley, Head of ABC TV’s Indigenous Department.

“This will bring to a close the Redfern Now franchise, but the ABC’s commitment to Indigenous content and the development of the Indigenous screen industry in the future will continue.”

Directed by Rachel Perkins, Promise Me is produced by Blackfella Films’ Darren Dale and Miranda Dear, line produced by Scott Hartley, story produced by Jimmy McGovern, and executive produced by Sally Riley and Screen Australia’s Erica Glynn.

Production begins on Wednesday.
