1.7m as Block Glasshouse hits new high

Ratings: There's no stopping The Block on Nine, while ANZAC Girls finishes well for ABC.

2014-09-15_0949The Block hit a season high of 1.7m viewers for Nine and still has several weeks to go. Both Melbourne and Sydney surged past the 500,000 mark. Nine snared 3 of the top 5 spots, while Seven can take comfort from the fact that X Factor has not been losing audience, holding steady at 1.2m viewers.

Nine network won with a 32.0% share then Seven 30.5%, ABC 17.4%, TEN 13.8% and SBS 6.3%.

Next for Nine were Nine News (1.37m) and 60 Minutes (1.11m). Big Brother underwent a coding error which will see its 432,000 adjusted to 645,000. In the arvo the NRL finals scored a strong 738,000 in 3 cities.

Seven News (1.31m) led Seven followed by X Factor (1.2m), Sunday Night (1.06m), The Last Days of Michael Hutchence (690,000) and Castle (381,000 / 252,000).

ABC News (866,000) was best for ABC then the final ANZAC Girls (817,000), Doctor Who (661,000 / 78,000), The Bletchley Circle (472,000) and Compass (480,000). A repeat of Utopia was 161,000.

Modern Family (517,000 / 359,000) was best for TEN. TEN Eyewitness News was 435,000 then Bondi Vet (383,000), Movie: Prometheus (361,000) and a Bondi Rescue repeat (258,000).

Treasures of Ancient Egypt (341,000) topped SBS ONE followed by the excellent The Sixties (281,000), SBS World News (204,000), and 9/11 Escape from the Impact Zone (190,000).

Peppa Pig ruled multichannels at 279,000.

  1. Emurray- spot on. Finals footy obviously will attract extra viewers but if you compare this figure to a big matchup during season it’s well over double.
    Given that channel 9 want to lead into the news, just have the game kickoff at 4pm. This then means it doesn’t clash with the 2pm game. Having games played simultaneously when there are enough time slots is crazy.

  2. There was a story in telegraph last week about drop in viewers watching league. Nine wake up and listen .. People want to watch live footy and the figures from both Saturday night and yesterday afternoon prove this .. Yes it’s finals .. But nine would be better served by a live 330 game every Sunday
