ABC Head of Factual Phil Craig will depart the broadcaster after 2.5 years.
Craig joined the ABC in 2012 as an independent UK producer but has chosen to return, to be closer to family.
“He’s a highly accomplished producer who’s made a significant contribution to the ABC in a short space of time and we’ll miss him,” an ABC spokesperson told TV Tonight.
He has co-produced ABC documentaries including Surviving Mumbai, Skippy: Australia’s First Superstar, The Great Escape: The Reckoning, Churchill’s Darkest Decision, Chateau Chunder: The Australian Wine Revolution and Desert War plus The Secret History of Eurovision for SBS and Bom Bali for TEN.
Other credits include titles for BBC, Discovery Channel, Sky Atlantic, Granada Television and UK production companies.
He will depart in early 2015 with ABC unlikely to begin recruitment before late 2014 or early 2015.

Word is the replacement has already been found. Expect someone with a very commercial (i.e. ch 9) background.
