Airdate: The Thursday Night Sport Show

ONE announces a new live sports panel show with Mel McLaughlin, Mark Howard and Sam Mac.

2014-09-18_1435TEN has announced a new sports offering The Thursday Night Sport Show to be hosted by Mel McLaughlin with regular panellists Mark Howard and Sam Mac.

The branded show will air live from Melbourne on ONE from Thursday, October 2, at 9.30pm AEST.

ONE previously had dedicated AFL and NRL panel shows which were axed under cost cuts.

Expect fast-paced, opinionated and entertaining television, a show jam-packed with expert guests, analysis, personalities and fun with some of the biggest names in the business including Mark Webber, Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, Damien Fleming, Mark Waugh and more.

Backed by Ladbrokes.com.au, horse racing expert, media personality and sports lover Andy Maher will man the Ladbrokes.com.au Desk providing odds for key sporting events and races throughout the show.

The panel will also be joined by horse racing guru Anthony Mithen each week to discuss the weekend’s races and tips for punters.

Tune in for news and views on the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, NRL Grand Final, the Hyundai A-League, Formula One, V8 Supercars, the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, Major League Baseball, NFL, NBA, the English Premier League, Rugby Union, Cricket and more.

Starts October 2. Live from 9.30pm AEST on ONE.

  1. Will be good for the Spring Carnival and Cricket but think they should have kicked it off mid-AFL/NRL season so their supporters can get used to the show and maybe stay with it in the off season. Hope it works for Ch10.

  2. Good move as I enjoyed Thursday Night Live when it was on, the Ladbrokes inclusion is a bit of a turn off for me as we are constantly hit with odds etc for sporting events agree with the comment made by @DaveM. I know my husband will be watching for the Mel McLaughlin factor a lone.

  3. The fact they put out a release with not one but two mentions of a betting company in the one paragraph says it all and is why I won’t be watching. Will Andy Maher have the betting company plastered across his forehead also.

  4. Will this continue through the summer and if so, how is One going to cover it as Mel/Mark will be busy doing BBL. But it’s a good get. I wonder why Ten wouldn’t have Greg or Matt White on the show. Ten needs more of these shows and I will tune in

  5. I too remember Thursday Night Live.
Sponsored by Ladbrokes? I hate those stupid ads… I hope they can squeeze in some actual sport between all the gambling updates…

  6. Haven’t we seen a show like this before? It also aired on One, titled Thursday Night Live, and had Mark Howard as a panellist, like this new show. But it had Bill Woods as host.

Although, it is good to have a show like this return. FTA is currently lacking some general sports show in prime-time

  7. Good to see them trying new shows but a strange move given that they had moved away from sports programming on ONE, would have though this would be better over on TEN. Now they just need to get back some rights to some major sporting events.
