Happy birthday NWS9 Adelaide!

Nine Adelaide celebrates its 55th birthday with a free photographic exhibition at its studios.

2014-09-05_0023Today marks 55 years since NWS9 Adelaide went on the air.

September 5th, 1959, saw South Australia’s first commercial television station hit the airwaves from its Tynte Street Studios.

To celebrate this anniversary Nine will open its studios to the public for a special photographic exhibition in the Kevin Crease Studio -home to such shows as Adelaide Tonight, Country and Western Hour, Curiosity Show, Humphrey and Friends, The Channel Niners, Postcards, and Nine News.

The exhibition includes never-before-released photos of local and national identities including John Doherty, Kevin Crease, Ernie Sigley, Anne Wills, Rob Kelvin, Bobo the Clown, Chico the Chimpanzee, Winky Dink and Humphrey B. Bear.

Legendary personality Anne Wills, approaching her 70th birthday, started as the first channel weather girl and took time to stroll down memory lane.
