2013-04-11_2348Ryan Murphy’s recent drama development Open is not going ahead with HBO.

Co-written with former Dexter co-executive producer Lauren Gussis, the project explored sexuality revolving around five lead characters, including a married couple of thirtysomethings, the husband’s male co-worker and a woman in her 40s who is a yoga professional.

It was to star Michelle Monaghan, Scott Speedman, Wes Bentley, Anna Torv and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Murphy and HBO both recently delivered the Emmy-winning adaptation of The Normal Heart.

“After such a triumphant collaboration with The Normal Heart, everyone felt that Open was not the right next step for all involved. However, we fully expect to work together again in the near future,” said HBO Programming president Michael Lombardo.
