Kim Williams, labradors, celebrity nudes and Studio 10.

It's funny the things media execs are left to comment on in order to promote their latest book....

2014-09-04_1640While his former colleagues were attending the ASTRA Conference in Sydney today, ex Foxtel and News Corp CEO Kim Williams was a guest of Free to Air, spruiking his new book on morning TV.

Williams was part of Studio 10‘s rundown spanning everything from suspicious dads, a labrador wearing a go-pro camera, hacked celebrity nude photos, Brad & Angelina’s wedding.

But as the guest for the day he was welcome to weigh in on any of the show’s topics. On the subject of Education, he told Ita Buttrose, it was still vital over apprenticeships.

“The notion of there being vast apprenticeships for people doesn’t exist. The notion of cadetships in journalism which was so common when you became a journalist, doesn’t exist anymore,” he said.

He even got into the spirit of the show during a male model underwear advertorial when Ita made a remark about men’s packages, joking that “She’s been tutored by Jacqui Lambie!”

But while he didn’t comment on the celebrity nudes issue, he was tactfully silent when entertainment editor Angela Bishop revealed George Clooney was set to direct a UK film about News Corp hacking, leaving the Tele’s Joe Hildebrand to add a wry comment about it being Britain not Australia’s problem.

Williams’ book featured in a one on one interview with Ita Buttrose.

Thanks also to Ms. Bishop for also noting TV Tonight‘s story on Carol Raye’s plea for a Mavis Bramston DVD!

  1. Surprised that Kim was allowed in the TEN studios . After the big fallout with Lachlan in relation to the NRL tv rights. If it were not for Mr Williams we would be watching tonight’s NRL game on TEN tonight.
