Minority Report sequel gets US pilot

Another big screen feature has a small-screen project in development.

2014-09-09_1555FOX is set to pilot a small screen sequel to the 2002 Tom Cruise feature, Minority Report, which was loosely based on a Philip K. Dick short story.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Max Borenstein (Godzilla) will write the script that takes place 10 years after the end of Precrime in D.C., when one of the three Precogs struggles to lead a “normal” human life, but remains haunted by visions of the future. He meets a detective haunted by her past who just may help him find a purpose to his gift.

As a female-led drama, there is no suggestion of Tom Cruise taking any role.

Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment already has seven series on five different networks: ABC’s The Whispers, CBS’ Under the Dome and Extant, FX’s The Americans, TNT’s Falling Skies and the upcoming Public Morals as well as FOX’s Red Band Society.

It also has TNT pilot Lumen in the works.

  1. ‘Minority Report’ was a silly film to start with and Spielberg has had a very patchy record on scifi TV of late-‘Terra Nova’ ring any bells?
As for the egregious ‘Under The Dome’, that should bar him from TV all together…

  2. Looks like TV has become much more of a lucrative business than cinema. With movies coming that have no real interesting story lines, sequels of franchises that have gone well over their lifespan, and endless, repetitive comic book films its no wonder Hollywood has had its worst year since 2001 and people are watching more tv instead.
