2014-09-25_0052British dramas Endeavour and DCI Banks have both been renewed by ITV.

The third series of Endeavour will once again be written by Lewis creator and Inspector Morse writer, Russell Lewis.

Four new films starring Shaun Evans will be set in 1967, picking up from the second series finale.

Executive Producer Russell Lewis said: “Endeavour ’67… Pepper – Piper – Purple Haze… As ‘Oxford’s finest’ encounter friends and foes both old and new, our next quartet of mysteries will take the audience on a psychedelic Summer of Love fairground ride, filled with twists and turns, shrieks and scares. For something wicked this way comes…”

Meanwhile the fourth season of DCI Banks, starring Stephen Tompkinson, will comprise three two–part stories.

ITV’s Head of Drama Series Jane Hudson said, “This series will see Banks pushed to the limit as he tackles his toughest crimes to date whilst dealing with a personal tragedy which turns his life upside down.”

  1. DCI Banks is just terrible, I wish they had called it quits. I am a big fan of the books and I know sometimes it can be hard to accept when characters on TV versions are nothing like you imagined, but in this case it’s just appalling. They’ve made the characters so one dimensional – Annie fiery, Banks – grumpy. Scripting is woeful too, the story is stripped to pieces with no subtlety and always feel so rushed.

  2. As Banks only has two people in his personal life. Both of them have almost died before and it was his daughter’s turn last so I guess things aren’t looking good for Annie. Their relationship is creepy anyway he is old enough to be her Grandfather.
