Ryan Corr on good behaviour, avoids drug conviction.

Ryan Corr pleads guilty to drug charges and is placed on a good behaviour bond for 12 months.

rycoActor Ryan Corr (Love Child, Packed to the Rafters) has been placed on a good behaviour bond for 12 months and escaped a conviction after pleading guilty to drug charges in a Sydney court today.

Corr, 25, was arrested in Bondi on May 27 after he was discovered allegedly smoking heroin in a Sydney laneway.

He was apprehended only 200m from where he bought the drug. The court heard the amount was only 0.26 grams.

Lawyer Chris Murphy told the court his client was “not a drug person” and that there was no suggestion he had ever injected or used heroin. A week before the arrest his grandfather had a heart attack and almost died, leaving Corr very distressed.

Murphy told the court his client was at the top of his career and any conviction would place his chances of getting work in Hollywood at risk.

Last week Corr was released from a Sydney Theatre Company production after being cast in an unannounced major Australian feature to begin soon.

Corr told reporters he wanted to put the issue behind him and “get back to work”.

  1. Well I guess it pays to have a fancy lawyer like Chris Murphy to get you off. Worked for Jodhi Meares and now for him. Seems celebrities are made of Teflon. However it will damage his image. Many will find it hard not to see him as ‘that druggie actor.’

  2. Only 26 grams. That’s ok then. Let’s let the druggo off because he is famous. What a joke. Should have gotten some time. Will learn nothing and will get caught again. Also if he pleaded guilty there is nothing alleged about it.

  3. Sorry, doesn’t ring true.
You have something bad happen in your life and all of a sudden you know how to buy heroin, have the implements needed to smoke it and hide yourself 20m away from where you bought it? BS.
Why would you suddenly decide that you need heroin to cope with a family loss?
The long term result, all being said, is that this talented young actor has damaged his promising career.

  4. Seems the courts are as effective to people as ACMA is to the tv networks. Let’s hope Ryan has learnt from his lesson, and goes on making years of good tv.
