12 Comments:

  1. Agree Jezza, prime time should be changed. You notice that the NRL final is played at night to make sure channel 9 get the ratings from the day but it will be interesting to see if they beat the AFL viewers.

  2. Agree, Jezza. The game shouldn’t have to move from its traditional, family friendly slot that works so well so the broadcaster can officially win the ratings.

Delighted such a big audience got to see Sydney’s attempt to buy a flag fail so miserably!

  3. jezza the first original one

OK so we all know the rules on ratings share. But lets do some joined up thinking…advertisers pay top dollars for the biggest audience, so they would have paid mega bucks to get a slot during the afl gf…so in effect this becomes prime time (y’know bigest numbers of the year) and should reflect in network share. Time for Oztam to engage the brain and make adjustments

  4. Strong ratings for the AFL GF but I cannot understand why the GF is not played as a twilight fixture starting at 4:40pm AEST.

Do they realise that the game starts at 12:30pm on the west coast of Australia? WA probably represents 20% of their market. People are busy on Saturday mornings.

  5. Wait… Channel 7 had the top 6 programs of the day, plus another 4 high rating shows in the top 20, including one that rated 2.8 million and Channel 9 still easily won the day?

I really don’t understand how ratings shares work.

  6. Wow. Well done to Seven for that huge figure for the AFL Grand Final. Great numbers for the pre-match and post-match related segments too.

A shame that viewers didn’t flow through primetime, where the “ratings count”.

    NRL Finals did well.

Ten – another 6.0% low. Just dreadful.
