Update: Rugby: Wallabies Vs Argentina

TEN has moved Saturday's Rugby to ONE in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

2014-09-10_2311TEN has moved Saturday’s broadcast of Rugby: Wallabies Vs Argentina from TEN in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth to ONE.

But it remains in schedule on TEN in Sydney and Brisbane.

Originally scheduled for 7:30pm AEST it will be replaced by movies Diary Of A Wimpy Kid and Unstoppable in Melbourne.

Last weekend the game attracted 125,00 in Sydney and 83,000 in Brissy but just 31,000 in Melbourne.

  1. Interesting that it’s the Argentina games that get short shrift from the networks.
When Channel Nine had the rights to Wallabies games they would broadcast the home games against Argentina games hours after they’d been played, and when the results had already been shown a few times on their own news bulletins.

I can only assume that they’d dare not do the same to games involving SA and NZ as so many ex-pats live here.

  2. After last week’s low ratings, I don’t blame Ten for switching this over to One for Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

It remains in Sydney and Brisbane, where based on last weeks ratings, rated the highest (of the five cities). However, it is now against the NRL Finals, so I would imagine that numbers will now be lower.

  3. The reason why it rated so low in Melbourne was because everyone was watching the footy. Hate to think what it’ll rate this weekend, as it will be up against an NRL final as well. Ten could really have done with the extra 165,000 people who watched it on Fox, maybe they should go for exclusive rights next time around, AFL has a big enough audience to be spread between free and pay TV, Union doesn’t.
