2 “brand new formats” for Nine in 2015

Nine teases media buyers for 2015. Here's the shows they are confirming so far...

2014_03_26 Gallipoli_0103 matt runningAs Upfronts get underway for Seven and Foxtel this week, Nine has decided to tease media buyers with some of their offerings via email.

Here’s what they are confirming for 2015:

Gallipoli: “The television event of 2015”
Married at First Sight: “Australia says ‘I do’ to the most controversial social experiment.”
The Block: “Returning in 2015 with not one, but two blockbuster series”
The Voice: “Returning louder than ever in 2015”
House Husbands: “The Logie Award winning drama returns in 2015”
Love Child: “The no.1 Drama of 2014”
State of Origin: “All three games delivered over 2 million viewers”
NRL: “2014 NRL Grand Final was the highest rating NRL match in history”
Gina v Rose: House of Hancock: “The world’s most formidable & colourful women in Australia’s history – Gina & Rose Hancock”
plus 2 Brand New Formats: ” Highly integratable and locally produced”

Absent from the highlights list are The Voice: Kids and Big Brother -Nine was careful to include footage of Sonia Kruger in a showreel while not specifically confirming its return.

While that’s likely to fuel speculation about its future, it’s not uncommon for networks to want to see a show’s season play out before deciding on its future. Similarly, we should not expect any decisions by Seven on The Big Adventure this week.

Two seasons of The Block is not unexpected, both to be set in South Yarra, with one already underway. Married at First Sight was originally announced for 2014. Gallipoli looks like being a stunner.

Nine is yet to confirm its Upfronts plans, expected for late November.

  1. Of course two seasons of the Block at 10 weeks per season accounts for half of Nine’s 40 week rating year…

Just hope they stop trying to make each season bigger and bigger and more ridiculous than the previous ones…

  2. Neon have the worst lineup, no good shows there whatsoever. At least Seven and Ten have some decent programs. Only Nein shows I’d consider watching are Gotham and Arrow and we already know that both shows are or will play werewolf timeslots next year

  3. Ilovetv – Unless Nine wants to change the format of The Voice Kids.
@William – If Nine continues to flop BB and The normal version of The Voice, then these shows will be axed.

  4. @Shoudy Chen – its the best idea that Nine has done in a long time as it shouldn’t have aired in the first place, before the package is complete all Nine needs to do is get rid of BB and The Voice before they bomb even more.

  5. So they’ve had a year to think about it and they are still going to go ahead with Married at First Sight and include it in an email spruiking their best shows. Did the floptacular WLCTT not send off the alarm bells.

  6. Not two more series of The Block next year, talk about overkill, so it will be on basically most of the year 5 nights a week, wonder how long it will be before people switch off with boredom repetition series, surely people can only watch for so long, so glad I dot watch it.

  7. Should NRL fans get their hopes up that Nein will have fixed their “technical difficulties” in 2015 in order for them to programme the Grand Final and State of Origin on GEM in NSW & QLD? Yeah right.

  8. I’d love to see Big Brother return but with live feeds or uplate on Go! or something But I doubt it very much. Even with this underwhelming season I would still like it to return rather than not.
