    • Twisting my words somewhat. I haven’t bagged SBS numbers. I have questioned whether Publicity were spinning by calling it a “hit”. There is a difference. But to get to your point, Foxtel is in about a third of Australian homes and SBS is about 99%. Thanks.

  1. Opening A-league game last season rated 166,000 on SBS 2. mediaspy.org/forum/index.php?/topic/24074-friday-11th-october/#entry978783
So an improvement of 49,000. Moving to SBS 1 and on the back of a World Cup you’d expect some improvement. Plus featuring the two teams with the most supporters helps as well.

  2. Even Channel 10 would not regard 230k viewers as a hit. Who sent the release, I bet it was their soccer tragic CEO Les Murray or his sidekick Craig Foster.

A few short years ago the Chaser team summed it up beautfully when they said that every year the World Cup is played, Australians pretend they like soccer. How true.

  3. Ten are back to their usual Promoting the Living rooms next episode from Thusday night! Giving the audience 1 day of notice isn’t going to grab you any new viewers.
