Nine Perth is now home to WA-based travel series Destination WA hosted by Tod Johnston.

Produced by Trevor Cochrane’s Guru Productions, it showcases travel, food, festivals, events, concerts and sport from the Pilbara, Kimberley, golden mid-west, southwest to metro hot spots.

Host Tod Johnston is joined each week by fellow West Aussies Anna Gare, Kim Bridge, Lee Steele, Caty Price and Lisa Fernandez.

“We are very proud to present this Western Australian series that focuses on the essence of our distinctive culture,” said Nine Perth Managing Director, David Mott.

Saturday’s prime-time episode features:

Special Guest – Nine News Perth’s Tim McMillan kicks off the series with an exhilarating skydive over Perth. What better way to see the city from 14,000ft together with the thrill of landing on the beach in Mandurah.

Tod Johnston embarks on an adventure through the picturesque Pilbara from the famous gorges of Karaijini to the Millstream Chichester National Park and gains cultural insights into these people. He catches up with Joel and Benji Madden stars of Nine’s hit shows The Voice and The Voice Kids and finds out what they love about WA. Plus, he explores Perth’s new bars, restaurants and venues with Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi.

The family’s ‘Yaya’ (grandmother) cooks all of the traditional Greek dishes and shows Anna a few of her hometown secrets in preparing the feast followed by some plate smashing and traditional Greek dancing over an ouzo-drenched floor that’s set on fire!

Lee Steele presents a real life Indiana Jones story when she interviews one of the five Afghani ‘Keyholders’ that risked their lives to save Afghanistan’s national treasures from the Taliban during recent civil unrest. These artifacts are being exhibited at the West Australian Museum.

Caty Price has a birds-eye view of our stunning sunrise in a hot air balloon in the Avon Valley complete with canola fields in full bloom. She checks out the beautiful statue spectacular and the new City of Perth iKiosk with suggestions for decadent food tours in China Town plus, discovers Perth by Segway.

Lisa Fernandez has fun and fitness at Bounce trampoline centre. She gets into the zany dodge ball competition and lines up her opponents as red mist descends!

Saturday, October 11 at 7.00pm then continues every Sunday at 5.30pm from October 12.
