Ex-7th Heaven actor under molestation investigation

US actor Stephen Collins is the subject of an NYPD investigation over allegations of sexual abuse.

2014-10-08_0900US actor Stephen Collins is the subject of an NYPD investigation over allegations he allegedly molesting young girls.

Collins, 67, who played a Protestant pastor and father on 7th Heaven, is alleged to have sexually abused one young girl and exposed himself to two others, according to authorities.

The sexual abuse is alleged to have taken place in 1972 — although it wasn’t reported until 2012, according to a police source. No charges have been filed against the actor.

The actor had been the subject of a sex abuse investigation several years ago, but the statute of limitations on the case ran out, so no charges were ever filed, a source said.

Collins allegedly admitted to abusing an underage girl — a relative of his first wife Marjorie Weinman — during a therapy session with his now ex-wife Faye Grant in 2012, officials said.

Grant recorded the confession, but has denied leaking it to gossip website TMZ.

Collins also admitted to exposing himself to two more underage girls: one who lived near him in Los Angeles and another girl from New York who was between 12 and 13-years-old. It was not immediately revealed when these incidents took place.

Meanwhile the immediate effects of the allegations against Collins appeared to be growing with US channel UP TV not wasting any time with pulling 7th Heaven re-runs from its regular TV scheduling.

Collins resigned from the National Board of the Screen Actors Guild shortly after news that movie execs have fired him from his upcoming film, Ted 2.

Collins recently joined former cast mates of 7th Heaven in a private reunion. The show ran for 11 seasons.
