Ex-Big Brother boss to produce I’m a Celebrity for TEN

Original Big Brother producer Peter Abbott and Lara Hopkins will helm TEN's 2015 Reality series.

2014-10-06_1425ITV Australia has announced Peter Abbott and Lara Hopkins will be joint executive producers on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! for TEN.

Abbott, who recently appeared on ABC’s Reality Check, has a long-term working association with Hopkins, collaborating on three seasons of Big Brother for TEN. Abbott was exec producer for the first three seasons while Hopkins worked on seven seasons, rising to supervising producer and live series producer.

Abbott has more than 30 years production experience in Australia, notably co-founding Freehand and having two stints at Beyond Productions as well as several years at Seven and Southern Star. His credits also include Dancing with the Stars and Top Gear Australia.

Hopkins also worked as a producer on the UK version of I’m A Celebrity where it has had 13 seasons, with her other credits including Talkin’ ‘bout Your Generation, The Contender, Minute to Win It, The Great Australian Bake Off and Meet The Frockers.

Stephen Tate, Head of Entertainment and Factual Programming,  is executive producer for TEN.

The series, to be filmed in Africa, will air in 2015.

  1. Peter Abbott has produced some brilliant shows and his presence on last week’s new ABC Reality Check was a real scoop. This guy knows how to create something real. An Australian version of IACGMOOH will literally rate its ‘socks off’ – as long as TEN allows the socks to actually come off. Peter’s proven this can happen when he did BB for TEN.

  2. The entire 2012 UK version is available on YouTube. It’s quite addictive. I can’t wait for the Aussie version. At least it’s not another talent show.

  3. I know this has been said several times before but why don’t 10 try a local edition of Survivor (I know our previous attempts were less then great but 3rd times the charm)

    Back on topic, I haven’t seen IACGMOOH-UK but I might give it a watch.
