The Block tops Thursday, poised for bumper finale.

Ratings: With its best Thursday numbers all season the question now is: can The Block auction top the MKR finale?

2014-10-10_1002Can The Block auction top this year’s final of My Kitchen Rules? That’s essentially the question to be answered on Monday with Seven’s show currently the top-ranking entertainment show of the year.

Seven’s cooking contest pulled 2.6m viewers, and The Block‘s near-unbeatable run in recent weeks suggests it is well placed to knock on it’s door. Last night the show scored 1.39m viewers, its best Thursday numbers all season.

Elsewhere last night both Seven and Nine news were again under the magic million.

Nine network won Thursday with 31.0% then Seven 28.7%, ABC 18.1%, TEN 16.9% and SBS 5.2%.

Aside from The Block, Nine’s other numbers were Nine News (983,000 / 959,000), A Current Affair (812,000), Big Brother (739,000), Hot Seat (487,000) and David Blaine: Real or Magic (299,000).

Seven News (938,000 / 918,000) led for Seven then Highway Patrol (828,000), Home and Away (815,000), Beauty and the Geek (612,000 / 532,000) and Million Dollar Minute (461,000). Covert Affairs was 163,000.

ABC News (723,000), 7:30 (680,000), Changing Minds (582,000), Catalyst (572,000), The Agony of the Mind (464,000), QI (354,000) and Lateline (258,000) ranked on ABC.

Madam Secretary (604,000) was best for TEN. The Project was 535,000 / 375,000, TEN Eyewitness News was 499,000, Jamie’s Comfort Food was 439,000. A repeat of Party Tricks was 215,000.

On SBS ONE it was The Little Paris Kitchen (207,000), Yotam Ottolenghi’s Mediterranean Feasts (197,000),  The Incredible Spice Men (170,000) and SBS World News (127,000), Masters of Sex (111,000). Thai Street Food was 58,000.

  1. Lots for me to watch on Thursday nights..and next week with Upper Middle Bogan/Its a Date…
I am going to watch the first three listed here on SBS….on their catchup site….

  2. I wonder what would have happened if TEN had have put The Good Wife on after Madam Secretary, seems like it is an obvious double act if you ask me (which doesn’t mean much I know), could have started both off together.

  3. Looking forward to the auction.
Have a feeling they will all do well beyond their wildest dreams.

Hate to say it , (as Dee has come across all season as incredibly rude and petulant when things aren’t going her way), but the Double Ds deserve to win .
Theirs is the classiest, most elegant apartment – Dee is a very talented stylist despite her abrasive personality.
Mike and Carlene’s apartment is really nice as well..

  4. @ Jake S… I woud think that a 6 figure rating for any show that begins after 10:30 is a positive figure.

The question is more how many more viewers would it get if it wason at 9:30.

  5. Yay for the Block. I’m looking forward to the Auctions. I dont really give a crap about the wedding, but good on them for having the idea, so Channel 9 would pay for the wedding 😉
