2014-11-02_1958SBS 2 will screen the 2014 Junior Eurovision Song Contest later which takes place on 15 November in Malta.

The event features 16 acts aged 10 to 15 years old.

Jessica Mauboy who appeared at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest semi-final, will introduce this before handing over to young performers Georgia McCarthy and Andre Nookadu (brother of Adrien Nookadu).

Taking “Togetherness” as its theme, the 2014 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will broadcast live from Marsa, Malta, where the brightest young stars from 16 countries will compete for the title of Junior Eurovision Song Contest Champion.

The show will be held at the former shipyard in Marsa and will be hosted by popular Maltese TV presenter Moira Delia.

Like the grown-up version, The Junior Eurovision Song Contest winner is chosen by a combined vote of the official jury panel, together with the ranking points handed out by viewers in each participating country. The rules differ slightly as prizes are awarded to first, second and third placegetters.

The 16 countries battling it out in this year’s contest are Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Georgia, Italy, Malta, Montenegro, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, The Netherlands, and Ukraine.

The mini songster who takes out the title this year is also given the opportunity to be a part of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria.

Sunday November 16 at 7:30 pm on SBS 2.

  1. I finally got around to watching this on Monday night. I think the commentators need to realise that not all viewers of JESC are children and no need to shout and also need to not try to offer judgment on the acts… they are there as commentators not judges. I guess they’ve been watching too many reality shows.

I’m also not sure that in this age of trying to combat bullying that Andre saying one junior contestant who maybe wasn’t the best singer should “stick to playing games” is overly helpful.

But to be blunt I say we don’t need commentators for JESC. The show flows along just fine without them.

Any report from SBS/OZTAM as to how this rated on Sunday night?
