Big Brother’s daylight savings finale

Unlike 2013, Big Brother's finale won't be live in all states.

2014-11-17_1029Big Brother will have its finale at 8:30pm Wednesday November 26th in a two hour finale.

Unlike last year it will not be Live around the country, when Nine held off programming such as A Current Affair in some states for the big occasion.

That means viewers in several states -including its home base of Queensland- will need to avoid social media for fear of being spoiled on the night.

In a worrying sign of the show’s diminishing importance it will be preceded by two New Zealand factuals, Renters and Neighbours at War at 7:30pm / 8pm respectively.

There will still be six housemates remaining on the penultimate night with Nine planning a Triple Eviction, leaving 3 housemates to play for the final prize.

Of course, Nine is hardly alone in not airing a Grand Final live in all states, with Seven’s Dancing with the Stars similarly delayed in states outside Daylight Savings (…..and Western Australia and South Australia delayed for finals every week of the year).

  1. Reality begat reality … and in the end viewers wanted stories not glorified CCTV footage put together by loggers and transcribers. Thank heaven’s for FOXTEL & SBS.

  2. Would love to see the whole audience show up an hour late by sticking to Queensland time. Don’t wanna air live in QLD don’t expect an audience of queenslanders.

  3. I am more excited that great funny New Zealand shows like Renter and Very Funny Narrated Neighbours at War.

I think David should do a Review on Neighbour at War

  4. I also gave up this year. The constant change in time slot and then I feel the 8.30pm time doesn’t suit this type of show. I tuned in the other day and didn’t know half the housemates so gave up.

  5. Like poida, I gave up on this series in the first week, but have watched the odd episode here and there. I’ve watched nearly every episode of all the other series.

I find it hard to believe that Nine aren’t showing it live in Qld and SA, given that there are two factual shows before it.

Lets hope that if it returns next year it’s ‘back to basics’. It did wonders for Masterchef this year.

  6. I understand Big Brother isn’t doing that well this year, but surely putting two factual which wont rate that well before the finale (which always rate high) is a stupid move…
