FOX pulls Red Band Society

US hospital dramedy coming to Seven in 2015 may not proceed past 13 episodes.

2014-11-28_0119US hospital dramedy Red Band Society, coming to Seven in 2015, is on shaky ground and may not proceed past 13 episodes.

The Hollywood Reporter describes it as failing to make much of an impression averaging just a 1.8 rating with adults 18-49 and 5.1 million viewers, in DVR viewing.

FOX has pulled the series from its recently announced midseason schedule. After the tenth episode screens in December, the remaining three will be shelved to air at a later date.

Yet while FOX expressed interest in more episodes for this season, producer ABC Studios could not accommodate the network’s request for a reduced license fee.

Production has stopped at the end of 13 episodes, pending further decisions.

From Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and starring Academy Award-winning actress Octavia Spencer (The Help), Dave Annable (Brothers & Sisters) and a charismatic cast of fresh faces, Red Band Society is a provocative, unconventional and unique coming-of-age dramedy about a group of rule-bending friends and the adults who mentor them through the ups and downs of adolescence in Los Angeles’ Ocean Park Hospital. Exploring everything from strong friendships and first loves, to humorous mishaps and heartbreaks, the series is a story of life, with an edgy comedic tone all its own.

  1. I appreciate the updates, if you hear about these shows but you’re waiting for them to begin on fox or FTA then it is absolutely of interest. I’m still sad about A to Z, serves me right for committing too early 🙂

  2. It’s an American show that has been axed before it even hits our screens so not sure why this is newsworthy. There have been about half a dozen shows that have suffered that fate over there already this season and will probably be a dozen by the time our 2015 season starts.
