Nine’s cricket catches Wednesday win

Ratings: Sports fans give Nine a mid-week win, while First Contact dips in its second outing.

2014-11-20_0948Nine’s One Day Cricket, starting as early as 6:30pm in primetime, ensured it held a good audience across the evening last night, giving the network a comfortable win over Seven.

Seven still had the biggest general entertainment audience in Home and Away, while Mad as Hell did good numbers for ABC.

First Contact on SBS dropped in its second night but remained well in front of other SBS shows.

And Sunrise‘s bumper week continues to thwart Today.

Nine network share was 32.1% then Seven 28.7%, ABC 17.6%, TEN 15.9% and SBS 5.7%.

Nine News returned to a half hour bulletin last night and interestingly pulled its best numbers so far this week at 1.11m. One Day Cricket followed at 985,000 / 489,000. A 10pm movie The Cold Light of Day was 279,000.

Seven News was 1.09m / 1.04m for Seven then Home and Away (815,000), Criminal Minds (702,000 / 560,000), Air Rescue (674,000) and Million Dollar Minute (541,000). Grimm was 214,000.

ABC News (766,000) led for ABC then Mad as Hell (722,000), 7:30 (700,000), Media Circus (601,000), Home Delivery (386,000), QI (348,000), At the Movies (286,000) and Black Comedy (272,000).

The Project was 537,000 / 367,000 for TEN. TEN Eyewitness News was 501,000, Modern Family was 459,000, Wonderland was 429,000, The Millers was 356,000 and The Good Wife was 289,000.

First Contact slipped to 339,000 / 34,000 for SBS but was well ahead of Wild Thailand (185,000), SBS World News (127,000) and Fargo (74,000).

Big Bang (327,000) outranked Big Brother (251,000) on GO!

  1. First contact seemed a bit like Wife Swap to me. And that participant who was surprised that the family living in Sydney ate steaks, chicken and salad…”I thought they’d be eating bugs”…OMG!!!
