Offspring may not have a clear future on TEN but it is on a pathway to an American adaptation.
Laurie Zaks, President of Mandeville Television, told the Screen Forever conference in Melbourne yesterday, “I have 2 formats, one is Offspring, the very popular Australian show and Wire in the Blood from the UK. That took a lot of work, getting those formats and finding the absolute right writers.”
Zaks developed Castle and served as executive producer for five years on the show. As Senior Vice President, Series Programs, for UPN, she had programming responsibilities for comedy and drama series including Veronica Mars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Everybody Hates Chris. She also oversaw Everybody Loves Raymond, King of Queens and The Guardian for CBS.
Mandeville Television is developing Wire in the Blood with ABC Studios and Endemol Studios.

The comparable American show for Offspring was Emily Owens, and that was cancelled..
Offspring would be a series I’d never think to adapt, it relied so heavily on the great casting of all its characters to really work well.
Oh come on. Just renew it already.
This waiting is rather annoying and cruel.
