Rachel McAdams joins Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch in Season 2 of HBO's crime drama.

2014-11-25_1146Rachel McAdams is now confirmed as the female lead in Season 2 of True Detective, alongside Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch.

The eight-episode season, now in production in California, centres on three police officers and a career criminal (Vince Vaughan) who must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.

Colin Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.

McAdams will play Ani Bezzerides, Ventura County sheriff’s detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves. Kitsch is Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle officer for the CHP who is running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened.

Vince Vaughn is Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.

Kelly Reilly is also cast as Frank’s wife and partner in his enterprises.

  1. I find Vince Vaughn annoying – but I like the other actors. In particular Taylor Kitsch from FNL. Rachel McAdams is good too – hopefully its as good as season one. MM and WH were phenomenal in the first season

  2. So Vince isn’t playing one of the detectives as I initially thought he would be. I wonder if Rachel McAdams was the first choice. I hope it can at least come close to the first season.
