Returning: The Fall

Second season of The Fall will broadcast just an hour after the UK as the very first ‘express’ title for BBC First.

2014-11-02_1851Pay TV viewers are in for a treat this month when BBC First channel begins the anticipated second series of The Fall express from the UK.

This will broadcast just an hour after the UK transmission, at 10am each week with a replay at 8.30pm.

The channel is noting this as the very first ‘express’ title for BBC First.

The first season is currently screening on SBS ONE.

The critically acclaimed psychological thriller sees the spectacular cast from series one return, with Gillian Anderson leading as Detective Superintendent Stella who is on the trail of serial murderer Paul Spector, played by BAFTA Award-winning actor and former model Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey).

The suspense mounts in the second series as the hunt for Spector continues. He becomes increasingly desperate as the net tightens around him and becomes psychologically ever more dangerous.

Set in Belfast, Northern Ireland, The Fall Series Two is written and directed by Emmy Award-winning Allan Cubitt and produced by Emmy Award-winning producer Gub Neal and Julian Stevens.

  1. Great news.
    This is a quality show.
A bit disappointing to hear they have dragged the “family man serial killer” story arc into the next season.
Definitely echoes of “who killed Rosie Larson” in Seasons 1 and 2 of the US Killing here.

  2. 8:30pm Friday puts it up against the penultimate episode of S1 of Happy Valley on the ABC.

The BBC seem to like trying to attack their own content when other people buy it. They have targeted the ABC’s screening of New Tricks, QI and Eggheads. In the long run it can only reduce what they get paid for it.

  3. Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead (75k last Monday) and Doctor Who (mostly 16-34s) all get reasonable numbers for these daytime screenings. Presumably uni-students plus part-time and shift workers.

I like them because they are a convenient out of the way time to spool them to the IQ so I they are ready whenever I want to watch them. Usually later in the week when there is nothing interesting on.

I never get to watch stuff at 8:30pm Monday, others want to watch Party Tricks and QI. So I watch Supernatural in the bedroom.

  4. What sort of ratings do these daytime “fast tracked” episodes get. I’m sure even the most prolific of downloader could manage waiting till 8.30pm for a show.
