One of the previews that grabbed my eye at the recent SBS Upfronts was Prison Songs, described as “Australia’s first documentary musical” which looks inside Berrimah Prison, the largest correctional institution in the Northern Territory.
Produced by Spear Point / Beyond West this sees songs written by Casey Bennetto (Keating: The Musical) and Indigenous singer/songwriter Shellie Morris.
British director Brian Hill (Songbirds, Drinking for England) is executive producer.
Love that someone is playing with form….
It will air on SBS in the first week of January.
