Three times the property power

With 3 hit property shows, should the LifeStyle channel try a cross-over episode? Unlikely, Bryce Holdaway explains.

LifeStyle Channel’s Location Location Location Australia is one of three locally produced property series, all of which score well with viewers.

But while some viewers have requested a cross-over episode with Selling Houses Australia and Grand Designs Australia, Bryce Holdaway (pictured, right) says it’s extremely unlikely.

“Social media often requests it,” he says.

“It would be great. Logistically it would be a challenge but it’s something we would enjoy doing because we all get along really well.

“You’d need to find a person who has a house they want to sell that needs Andrew and Shaynna and Charlie’s help. Then you’d need Veronica (Morgan) and me to find a house that has the footprint that allows Peter to do a Grand Design.

“So that one person probably doesn’t exist in all three transactions.”

With its wordy title, Location Location Location Australia now has 40 episodes under its belt, but still has a point of difference to the other LifeStyle property shows.

“We’re acting on behalf of the person who is sitting on the couch. To an extent so does Peter (Maddison) with Grand Designs, but at a highly aspirational level.

“In a recent episode I bought at a house for $395,000 and Veronica was looking at $2.3m. So we have this range where people can locate at any point in the scale.

Selling Houses Australia is trying to get a sale done, but we’re acting on behalf of the buyer, but not through the the high aspirational level of Grand Designs.”

With a third season now completed the former Accountant turned Buyer’s Agent is hoping for a fourth season to begin filming next March. The show is scouring for new participants, in need of a new property.

“Domain sponsors our show and asks if anyone is looking. So that goes out to hundreds of thousands of people. Plus we advertise on the show as well,” he explains.

“We get quite a few who apply but from the viewers’ perspective they want to see a Hobart story or a Gold Coast or Perth story.”

The show has now bought properties in every state and territory except the Northern Territory.
