2014-11-06_2335Pioneering cameraman, Max Cleary, one of the first camera operators at ATN 7, has died, aged 79.

He passed away on his birthday, Monday November 3rd.

He worked at Seven, Nine and TEN as well as the BBC and featured on the cover of TEN-10’s Forty Years Of Television book published in 1996 and the poster for TENs Television Is Magic.

He worked as a producer and a director and was a cameraman on the legendary Number 96.

Creator David Sale told TV Tonight, “Max was an intrinsic and enthusiastic stalwart of our television industry, and it was a gift to have him bring his skills to Number 96.

“Like many who worked on that series, he remained part of the ‘family’ long after its demise, and rather like a distant relative, he would pop in and out of my life for a pleasurable ‘catch-up’. In recent years, as host of the entertainment program “Time Out” on Central Coast radio, he’d sometimes invite me to chat as a guest.

“It saddens me deeply that, along with Elaine Lee and Mike Dorsey, another valued member of the team that made Number 96 such a success is with us no more.”

His funeral will be held on the NSW Central Coast on Tuesday 18th November at 2pm at Greenway Chapel, 460 Avoca Drv, Green Point.
