A very Destination Flavour Christmas

SBS chefs Adam Liaw, Luke Nguyen, Matthew Evans, Shane Delia, Peter Kuruvita & Gabriel Gaté combine for a festive feast.

2014-12-04_1041Destination Flavour whips up a Christmas food journey next week  as SBS chefs Adam Liaw, Luke Nguyen, Matthew Evans, Shane Delia, Peter Kuruvita and Gabriel Gaté combine for a festive feast.

In this one-hour special television event, Destination Flavour presenter Adam Liaw draws on Asian traditions and childhood Christmas memories to create a mouth-watering spread for family and friends. As he prepares for the celebrations, the SBS Food stars share their Christmas stories and recipes from kitchens around Australia and the world.

Adam starts off his Christmas spread with a Japanese-inspired canapé of oysters with wakame and ponzu jelly. Then it’s over to the other side of the world to see what Luke Nguyen is cooking up in cold and windy Scotland. Holed up in Black Bull pub on the Isle of Bute, Luke prepares steamed scallops with whiskey soy for a room full of merry Scots. Back in Sydney, Adam gets into the spirit of things with a special Christmas cocktail. Down in Tassie, Matthew Evans continues the seafood theme with an entrée of snapper with tomato saffron sauce, while Adam whips up some incredibly tasty lobster rolls served on cute little brioche buns. Things get serious when Shane Delia prepares his main dish of slow-roasted lamb shoulder with flavours of shawarma, and Adam makes an orange-glazed turkey with Scarborough Fair stuffing. Peter Kuruvita presents his Christmas fare from the beach in his new home of Noosa with some super sweet coconut pancakes, while Gabriel Gaté presents a French classic: nougat ice-cream buche de Noel. To top it all off, Adam takes a tip from his Asian upbringing and creates a light and fresh dish of watermelon with watermelon granita.
