2014-12-04_1010Over 100 boats, the largest contingent in over 10 years, will compete in the annual Sydney – Hobart Yacht Race Live on Seven on Boxing Day.

The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia has announced that 119 entries have been received, including five super maxis and 10 international entries, meaning there will be three start lines.

Mark Beretta will host with commentary from a veteran of 31 Sydney to Hobart Yacht races, Peter Shipway. No pun intended.

Two-time treble crown winner and reigning record holder and line honours champion, Wild Oats XI will be back vying for line honours. Perpetual Loyal (formerly Rambler) will be back too aiming to cement its reputation as the fastest super maxi in the world.

Wild Oats XI, along with Jim Clark and Kristy Hinze’s brand new Comanche will have Seven’s on-boat cameras for the start of the telecast.

Comanche will bring something of an ‘x factor’ to this year’s event, having been recently launched in New England in October, Clark has shipped his brand new 100-foot, Ken Read-skippered yacht straight to Sydney.

This stunning international event will host boats from around the world including Germany, the Unites States, the United Kingdom, Poland, New Zealand and the Caymen Islands.
