Next week Marc Fennell presents four movies on SBS 2, two as part of the ‘Broken Britain’ season, including a spin-off from The Thick of It and then two more from ‘Monster Movie Mayhem.’

A spin-off from the BBC Television series The Thick of It, this British satirical black comedy satirises Anglo-American politics in the 21st century and the Invasion of Iraq. The plot follows government officials and advisors in their out of public view efforts either to promote the war or to prevent it.

Big Ass Spider – 8.30pm, Friday 26th December
A giant alien spider escapes from a military lab and rampage the city of Los Angeles. When a massive military strike fails, it is up to a team of scientists and one clever exterminator to kill the creature before the city is destroyed.
Grabbers – 10.15pm, Saturday, 27th December
When an island off the coast of Ireland is invaded by bloodsucking aliens, the heroes discover that getting drunk is the only way to survive.

Big Ass Spider is not showing on any of the guides.
Four Lions will be replaced.
Given recent events, and the subject matter of the film, I suspect that SBS could be in for some flak if they do go ahead with screening Four Lions.
