2014-12-23_2243Joe Cocker, the gravel-voiced Brit-born singer whose songs featured on Film and TV soundtracks, has died, aged 70.

Th soulful singer of “You Are So Beautiful,” “Unchain My Heart,” “California Love,” “Feeling Alright” and “The Letter” died in Colorado from a form of lung cancer.

Songs such as “You Can Leave Your Hat On”? featured in Nine 1/2 Weeks and “Up Where We Belong” in An Officer and a Gentleman and there were appearances in Mad Dogs & Englishmen and the original Woodstock documentary.

Other films featuring Cocker’s music included Iron Man 2, The Pursuit Of Happyness, 20 Feet From Stardom, Across the Universe, Finding Graceland, Carlito’s Way, Sleepless In Seattle and The Bodyguard.

But his music was also a backdrop to TV shows noticeably the opening theme of The Wonder Years, plus Family Guy, Hello Ladies, The Wire, Entourage, House M.D., Friends, Full House, Beavis And Butt-Head, Miami Vice and Saturday Night Live.

  1. He was a talented singer who created a lot of good music like ‘Unchain My Heart’ which was used during the Australian Government ads. RIP Joe Cocker.
