On Friday, January 30, ABC News Breakfast co-host Michael Rowland will broadcast LIVE from Queensland, interviewing the party leaders as it comes down to the wire.

On the eve of the Queensland election, Premier (LNP) Campbell Newman and Opposition Leader (ALP), Annastacia Palaszczuk go head-to-head for the only TV debate of the campaign.

Live from the ABC Election Centre in Southbank, Brisbane, join hosts Matt Wordsworth and Jessica van Vonderen with ABC Election Analyst, Antony Green. Joining the panel for the night will be former Federal Treasurer (ALP) Wayne Swan and Queensland Treasurer (LNP), Tim Nicholls.

We’ll also cross Live to our team of ABC News journalists – Kerrin Binne at the LNP party, Melinda Howells at the Labor party, and Karina Carvalho who’ll be on the ground in Ashgrove, where all eyes will be on whether Premier Campbell Newman will retain his seat.

  1. ha ha sure… sorry mis read the statement “6:00pm QLD time (on ABC in QLD only) / 7:00pm AEDT on ABC News 24” thought it was meaning all coverage was QLD only… my apologies

  2. @Johnson: The semi final match is on ABC2 in Qld and NT tonight so not as to clash with the news (previous matches were on ABC2 in WA for the same reason) ABC TV have been tweeting about it all day, along with on screen advertising.

  3. This means the Asian Cup soccer final, which will be held on the night as the Queensland election count, will not be shown on ABC’s main channel in Queensland, whether or not the Socceroos make it to the final. If it is to be shown on ABC2, then ABC must promote it properly, so soccer fans in the Sunshine State won’t miss out.
